Martin and Lucy Docking are the proud owners of one of the most successful dental laboratory’s in the UK. Award winning he may be but Martin is not one to sit on his laurels and is constantly looking at ways of improving and advancing the labs capabilities in producing high quality dental work. Martin has been working alongside some well regarded veterinary dentists to find ways of improving the success rates of cast restorations and also designing, manufacturing and fitting complex direct orthodontics.
Whilst working dogs, military and search & rescue dogs, have been having crowns fitted to root filled fractured teeth for some time, the concept has not been fully adopted in the UK and is often met with resistance. Traditional techniques used often involve cutting away too much of the damaged tooth therefore creating high levels of failure, modern day techniques help, improve the tooth preparation, impression taking, material use and cementation, all leading to high success rates.
Animal orthodontics is often overlooked because of the complexity of the situation. By working closely with the veterinary dentist, Martin and his team at the lab can design, produce and fit, unique mechanisms as a solution to most orthodontic problems.
